Smarti Environmental

Benefits - Infection prevention & Control

At Smarti, safety and hygiene are of utmost importance and we design our
products to enhance and support a healthy and safe washroom environment.
Our lab research identified that a Smarti waterless urinal reduces the number
of airborne bacteria by a factor of 5 compared to traditional flushing urinals.

Water-free

It may sound counterintuitive as water is so often associated with washing and cleanliness, but just as humans need water to survive, so do bacteria. By removing the water from our urinal systems, we create an environment that minimises bacterial growth. If you think of a stagnant pond where water is sat still, it is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Replacing water with our friendly SteriKleen spray and SteriKleer pods creates an enzyme solution which, when mixed with urine, creates an environment which prevents bacteria breeding.

Water Savings

Traditional flushing urinals are responsible for dispersing the bacteria found on the urinals themselves into the air of the washroom. A standard urinal will have around 500,000 germs per surface inch, and when they are flushed several times per hour, these bacteria particles become airborne and will then contaminate clothes and surfaces within the washroom and can even be inhaled. But removing the need for flushing dramatically reduces the risk of contamination within the washroom, resulting in a much cleaner environment.

Touch free

Waterless urinals also reduce the risk of touch contamination. Many flushing urinals require a handle to be pushed to flush the system through, meaning the handle will have been pushed by everyone who has used it before. But due to the waterless nature of the Smarti urinal, they do not require a flush, meaning they are “touch-free”, reducing the risk of cross-contaminationeven further.
